Development of a spectroscopic method for radioactive calcium using laser resonance ionization

Iwata, Yoshihiro

no journal, ,

A method for selective resonance ionization of odd isotopes using linearly polarized lasers is developed for the analysis of calcium-41 in concrete waste. In this study, we demonstrated odd isotope separation by comparing the ion signals of calcium-40 and calcium-43 under different conditions of linear polarization.

JAEA's contribution to the lifting of specific reconstruction and revitalization zones

Sanada, Yukihisa

no journal, ,

Since immediately after the accident, JAEA has been conducting environmental monitoring and research on the dynamics of microscopic radioactive materials in the environment. based on the radiation protection policy at the specific reconstruction and revitalization sites decided by the government since 2016, JAEA has been developing detailed environmental monitoring techniques, exposure assessment based on monitoring results, and monitoring results and We have contributed to the lifting of the Specific Reconstruction and Revitalization Bases by applying technologies that package the information disclosure of exposure assessment tools. In this presentation, we will report on the details of the technology package applied to such Specific Reconstruction and Revitalization Sites.

Imaging of gamma-rays by nuclides at Hamadori, Fukushima

Kawahara, Rika*; Ochi, Kotaro; Yamaguchi, Katsuhiko*; Torii, Tatsuo*

no journal, ,

A Compton camera can only provide two-dimensional radiation information, and it is impossible to determine the distance to hot spots. In this study, in order to obtain more detailed radiation source distribution, we combined a Compton camera and an optical camera to create a three-dimensional distribution map of source locations and their intensities. The survey was conducted at two locations in the difficult-to-return zone: a park parking lot and the area around a private house in the difficult-to-return zone (Okuma Town). The distribution of air dose rates was ascertained by measurement with a survey meter with a stick-type GPS (Gamma Plotter H manufactured by Japan Radiation Engineering Co. Measurements were taken with a Compton camera (H420, H3D, USA) at different positions and angles toward the hot spots. The software (Application Programming Interface Example (APIE)) was used to check the radiation incident information (incident time, energy, x, y, z) obtained by the Compton camera in real time. In the future, we will use the incident radiation information obtained with APIE to estimate the position of the radiation.

Numerical analysis on hydrogen behavior prediction for safe management of highly radioactive materials

Terada, Atsuhiko; Nagaishi, Ryuji; Thwe Thwe, A.

no journal, ,

With a storage containing wet radioactive waste such as fuel debris, it is important to reduce the risk of explosion and combustion due to hydrogen generated by radiolysis of water. This study, as a part of the development of simulation technologies for verification of reduction countermeasures and proposal of new countermeasures, conducted simulation of the hydrogen flow analysis and combustion behavior. It was found that the hydrogen safety risk reduction effects and issues affected by the natural ventilation and PAR, inert gas conditions in the container and facility.
